The Daily Office is a tradition of prayer that marks the hours of the day with scripture, psalms, and prayer. Its roots extend back to the prayer practices of ancient Judaism and the early Christian Church.

Following the Anglican Reformation, Archbishop Thomas Cranmer simplified the traditional cycle of daily prayers into Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer, making them available in English for the whole church. Over time, additional services such as Noonday Prayer and Compline were also included in the Book of Common Prayer.

Participation in the Daily Office is a central practice of Anglican spirituality and the Church's primary form of daily public worship. These services typically include prayers, psalms, readings from Holy Scripture, canticles, and the Lord's Prayer. They may be led by clergy or by lay persons.

St. John's offers opportunities to join in Morning Prayer and Noonday Prayer online throughout the week. All are welcome.
