He who is conscious of a debt that he can never repay will be forever paying it.
~G.K. Chesterton

I remember when a good friend of mine was trying to teach me to play golf many years ago. Bill's patience was incredible! He would take me to the driving range and then to the putting green. The golfers there just shook their heads as they watched me flail away. Then Bill would take me to the course where I was given a wide berth. He joked that the safest place for the ball to be was on the tee. It was there that I discovered a powerful metaphor of grace called the "mulligan." This term is used for an errant shot that could be taken again and would not count against your score. Essentially it is a "do over." Thinking about this, I reasoned that my life could use a mulligan or two. Who wouldn't want to have the chance to retake a life shot in the past that we had totally messed up? But there are no time machines for that to happen. We can look to a far greater power that began to manifest itself on that first Easter day. The risen power of Christ is more than just a "do over," it redeems! More than just a second chance, it saves. More than just a retake, it heals the situations in our life with the very literal presence of Christ. By applying this power to the messes in our lives, God can transform them into redemption and glory. May you experience the transformative power of Christ's redemptive love in every day and in every way.

Blessings always,
Fr. Scot+
