ST. JOHN'S AFTER DARK: CHANGING WINE INTO WATER IN 2011
On a wintery Saturday night in late January, Marsh Hall at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kirkland was transformed into a dimly-lit, Italian-themed nightclub – an elegant setting for the more than 110 attendees at its 2nd Annual Changing Wine Into Water fund-raiser.
With an ambitious goal of making clean water a reality in at least one needy community, St. John’s Women of the World (WOW) Committee hoped to raise enough funds to purchase a $5,000 well/clean water system for a community in need through Episcopal Relief and Development’s Gifts for Life.
Following the event, WOW reports that they will be able to purchase two wells/water systems! The committee had raised $2,500 during a similar event last year, and when added to the proceeds from this year’s event and other activities they have sponsored during the last two years, they will make clean water a reality for two communities.
