It is once again time to honor St. John's high school graduates as well as our youth and children's ministries.  On Sunday, June 3, at the 10a service we will welcome and pay tribute to our graduating seniors.  The entire service will include youth and children from our parish in various roles including lectures, ushers, worship leaders and greeters.  If you are interested in helping us with this service, or have a youth in mind please call the church office.  If you would like to recognize a graduating high school or college senior in our June 3 bulletin please submit a Graduate Form to the church office by May 30.

Following the service we will have our annual Sunday School Celebration & BBQ where we take time to honor all of our Sunday school participants and volunteers.  Our Barnabas Council will offer an Ice Cream Social for the finale.  There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex for food items if you'd like to donate.

I have a couple of ideas that might be fun for the young people of St. John's this summer.  These are nice weather activities or at least a lot more fun if the weather is nice.

1.  Bike Ride in June.  Let's ride from Log Boom Park in Kenmore to Gas Works Park.  It's about 10 miles each way and should take around one hour (and maybe a little more) to ride this distance (one way).  Once we're at Gas Works we could cook hamburgers or hot dogs, spend some time at the park and then return.  We would need adult chaperones to help on the ride and at the park.  It would also be nice to have someone in a truck or van to "rescue" a rider who had a break down - bike or self!

2.  Explore Downtown Seattle.  We need chaperones for this one.  Do this on a weekday because there are more people downtown.  Meet at St. John's.  Take the bus into Seattle.  Break into groups of 3 - 4 with a chaperone for each group.  Do a "Discover Seattle Scavenger Hunt".  Learn how to use the Metro Ride Free Zone.  Then have Japanese Hot Dogs at the Japanese Hot Dog stand on Second and Pike.  After lunch we can take the bus home.

3.  Think about a Ski Day for the coming winter!
