Welcome to our music ministry page. Here at St. John’s we believe that music is a valuable part of the church’s mission. Therefore, our music ministry is actively involved in worship in a variety of ways. Our groups are divided by ages and interests, so it is certain that you will find a choir that will help you share your gifts and talents with us!

Blue Angels

This is our children’s choir for grades kindergarten through 6th. The Blue Angels sing at the 10:00 a.m. service the first Sunday of the month from September through May, as well as special liturgies and events throughout the year as scheduled. Song styles range from traditional to contemporary. This choir rehearses at 11:15: a.m. Sunday mornings in room 6 and is under the direction of Laura Otanez and Diane Perman.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is a volunteer choir for male and female vocalists age 16+ who have a desire to worship God through traditional choral music. Styles include traditional, baroque, chamber and contemporary. Under the direction of Ted Christensen, this 25-30 voice choir sings at the 10:00 a.m. Sunday service from September to June. The Chancel Choir also hosts several concerts and special liturgies throughout the year. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the choir loft with special Saturday morning rehearsals at various times during the year.

Hosanna

Hosanna is our worship team comprised of vocalists and instrumentalists who love spreading the message of Jesus through praise and worship music. The team meets for rehearsal Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary under the direction of Laura Otanez and Ted Christensen. Hosanna leads worship at the 10:00 a.m. Sunday service one Sunday a month and provides music for special liturgies and events throughout the year. It is open to any individual age 16+ with a heart for Jesus and a love to lead others in worship!

In addition to these groups, St. John’s music ministry also offers concerts and recitals featuring vocal and instrumental soloists and groups comprised of our own musicians and special guests. For a schedule of events please consult the church calendar.
