Fashion Show and High Tea; Ladies of St. John's - please invite your friends to join you at the St. John 's Women's Annual Fashion Show and High Tea on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The Fashion Show is sponsored by Christopher and Banks who always present a colorful selection of clothes for all sizes and styles!! The Models will be our own St. John's Women and as always, will do a fantastic job of showing the clothes! The High Tea will be an English-type of Afternoon Tea with tea sandwiches (little tiny ones), petit fours, tiny cookies, chocolates, etc. and of course with TEA! We are inviting any lady from St. John's who would like to take a table and decorate it with her own china, etc. to sign up in the Narthex. If you would like to help with food preparation and setup, please mark the spot on the Sign-Up Sheet! The tickets are $10.00 each and Christopher & Banks usually offers a discount on items purchased either at the Fashion Show or with coupons after the Show. Celebration! Jim and Rainy Husband would like to  invite members of the parish to join them in  celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary and 50th Golden Jubilee  as graduates of Oregon State University.  Actually, these events in June 1963 were reversed since graduation day was June 2nd and their wedding day was June 14th.  Cake and ice cream will be served  in Marsh Hall following the church service on June 16th.

Healing Service: Due to Memorial Day weekend, there will be no OSL Healing Service this month. Our next Healing Service will be at 3pm on June 30^th in the nave.

You do not need to be a lay Eucharistic visitor to help out, and some of these “visits” may be done from the comfort of your own home.

GKEP Vacation Bible Camp Registration is now open for Athens our 2013 VBC!  From July 15-19 children ages 4-12 can come to Athens and join Apostle Paul on his Second Missionary Journey! During this vacation Bible camp kids meet the apostle Paul and hear him tell about his many adventures on his journey and learn more about living during Bible times. Cost is $20 per child, $50 max per family. Registration forms are in the narthex or on the church website. Registration ends June 14 and it is filling up fast.. Each year we ask parents to share their time and talents to help make this event as fun and successful, so please consider joining us as a volunteer. The GKEP VBC will be held at Lake Washington United Methodist church.  For more information see Cathy C. or call the church office.

CROP Work-Walk  is next Saturday, May 18th!  We’ll start at the LDS Meetinghouse in Totem Lake, 13220 Northeast 132nd St. to get our service project assignments: landscaping at Friends of Youth, painting and cleaning at Kirkland Heights, sorting food at Hopelink, or gardening at KITH’s Petter Court apartments.  Then we’ll carpool to our projects, and work until 11:30, when we walk back to the LDS Meetinghouse for lunch and celebration.  To join us, either by working, walking, or sponsoring a worker-walker, contact your CROP recruiter, Cynthia S. at 425-827-3077.  New this year: a brief dedication service at LWUMC on Friday night, to bless our walking shoes and work gloves.  Come pray around their beautiful labyrinth at 7pm, followed by a time to walk and pray if you would like.  Hope you can join us!

During the cruise season, we run a shuttle service between the cruise terminal at Pier 91 by the Magnolia Street Bridge to a drop off location near Westlake Center. Volunteers drive one of our 12 passenger vans from 8:15AM to 3:15PM. This shuttle service runs every Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from May 6th to Sept. 30th.. No special driver's license is required. Training will be provided. If you are interested in joining or have questions, please contact the Mission to Seafarers at 206-935-3439 or by email at office.mts.seattle@gmail.com. This is an excellent opportunity to meet young people from all over the world.

Our speaker will be Chris Parker, a professional puppeteer and storyteller who has captivated audiences with his unique presentations for over 30 years.   Adults and children alike are fascinated with his use of the Sesame Street characters and voices, as well as many other characters that Chris has personally developed throughout the years. Chris and his wife, Tevis, took his “friends” to Africa in September of 2010 to encourage the children of Mombasa, Kenya. Chris is now retired from Salvation Army service but is still very active with the puppet ministry by serving churches, schools, community service organizations, prisons and jails. CROP Work-Walk  Saturday, May 18, beginning at 9:15 AT THE LDS Totem Lake Meeting House, 13220 NE 132ND ST. The 2 Hour WORK party will be at 4-5 separate locations followed by a walk (no more than 2 miles, depending on the service project location) back to the Meetinghouse for lunch and celebration Join with members of the other churches of the Kirkland Interfaith Network (KIN) in one of several service projects (painting, gardening, sorting food), and to walk to raise money for Hopelink to assist low-income families.  Together we can do so much more than any of us can do alone. Opportunity to Make A Difference: The youth and young adults here at St. John’s, are planning on serving lunch to the women at Angeline’s Day Center in Seattle on Saturday, May 4. All are invited to join us. We plan on meeting at St. John’s parking lot at 8:45 a.m. for a bus ride to the city. You’ll have an opportunity to learn about the program and serve lunch to 100-150 ladies at two lunch sessions. You can make a difference and bring a little “light” and happiness to many people.
