MINI CHRISTMAS BAZAAR WAS A HUGE SUCCESS! Thank you to Clint and Cherrel F. for organizing the bazaar, and to everyone who participated in the St. John’s Christmas Mini Bazaar. Your donations of baked goods, decorations, and handmade items were greatly appreciated. All proceeds are going towards our Operating Fund. A total of $2711 was raised, plus a $2000 matching donation. 

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Our finance committee is busy working on our budget for 2012 which needs to be passed in December. If you haven’t turned in your pledge card please turn one in to help us prepare for 2012. All monies given to the church are offered to the glory of God. CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PAGEANT: Please join us later today for our annual Children’s Christmas Pageant. This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to see Christ through the eyes of our children. The performance starts at 4 PM. It is followed by a potluck at 6:30PM in Marsh Hall. Come and enjoy an evening with your church family as we celebrate together the Good News.

CHRISTMAS FLOWER REMEMBRANCES: Christmas flowers are given by members of the congregation as memorials or thanksgivings.  The names of those to be remembered will be included in the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day service bulletins.  If you would like to contribute, please complete the yellow form found on the counter in the Narthex and place it in the offering plate or mail it to the office by December 20th.

ADVENT GIFT CARDS: Women of the World (WOW) Committee kicks off their next major global campaign by offering Advent gift cards available for a $10 donation that will purchase a share of a community garden through Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD).  The gift cards will be available for purchase in the Narthex this morning. This is a high impact gift from the ERD Gifts of Life Catalog that costs $9,000.  Every donation makes a difference!  Stop by our table to learn more about how this gift can help a community in need.

THE SONGS OF ADVENT - a women’s Advent Bible study is meeting on Wednesday evenings at 7PM in the Marsh Hall through December 21.  As familiar as we are with the songs of Christmas, there are songs in the Gospel of St. Luke celebrating the birth of Jesus that most of us aren’t familiar with. The angels sang a song of peace to the shepherds. Mary sang a song of trust to God after she had time to get over the shocking news that she was going to be the mother of the Savior. Simeon also had a song that was filled with hope.  This study is free.  For more information contact Cathy C. in the church office.

We are looking for two or three parishioners who have some experience in the human resources arena to join Gary R. and Jerry M. on this committee. · Have been a member of St. John’s for at least one year and have taken communion at least 3 times

· Willing and able to attend monthly Vestry meetings and an annual weekend retreat

· Willing to accept other responsibilities such as becoming a liaison between the vestry and certain ministries

· And you want to make a contribution to your church

You would make a good candidate!

MINI-CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: Everyone is invited today to attend the last day of our Mini-Christmas Bazaar, which is set-up in the Narthex. The event features hand-crafted Christmas items and baked goods. If you shopped last week, stop by again, there are new items on display and many more baked goods. This is a perfect place to shop for friends and family. All proceeds will go to our St. John’s Operating Budget. As an added bonus, up to $2,000 in sales will be matched by an anonymous donor. Every dollar that you spend means $2 goes to our Operating Budget.  Last Sunday total sales were $1,516. This event started with two tables many years ago by Cherrel and Clint F., and through the years look how it has grown.

LAST WEEK TO BUY TICKETS to the ECW Christmas dinner!  All the ladies and GENTLEMEN of the parish are invited to this great evening of food, fellowship and fundraising for the parish!  Tickets are $25.  Wine will be available by the glass for $5.  We do have some donated tickets so if you would like to come but the budget can't quite stretch to buy a ticket see Adeline C.

Children’s Chapel is returning to St. John’s beginning today at 10AM in classroom #4.  It is open to children ages 3 to 7.  The children will return to the service during announcements.  Children’s Chapel will be available the first Sunday of each month.  For more information please contact Cathy C. in the church office.

THANK YOU: Three weeks ago, 720 Ditty Bags were packed for the Mission to Seafarers. This is the largest number of Ditty Bags in a very long time. Under the leadership of Donna R., St. John’s provided 240 of the bags. Thank you to everyone who played a vital role in making the ditty bags, stuffing them and providing the necessary materials. There are many seamen saying a prayer of thanks this holiday season for your generosity.

St. John’s Chancel Choir presents its 11^th annual Advent  program, A Procession of Lessons & Carols, Friday, December 9th at 7:30PM  Patterned after the Christmas Eve observance at King’s College in Cambridge, England, A Procession of Lessons & Carols has become an Advent tradition for St. John’s as well as the greater Kirkland community.  This classical performance consists of nine holiday readings, each followed by either a traditional carol performed by the choir, or one sung by the choir and audience.  A reception will follow the service.

OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE: The J2A/Rite 13 youth are partnering with Outreach in offering the Advent Giving Tree through December 11.  The charities they will be collecting items for will be Eastside Baby Corner, KITH family and  Life Care Center of Kirkland.  All donations need to be brought to the church unwrapped with the gift tag no later than December 11th. Our youth will be taking all items collected to the Eastside Baby Corner during the week of December 12th.

ECW CHRISTMAS DINNER: Tickets are now available for the ECW Christmas Dinner on Saturday, December 17th.  The cost is $25 per person and this includes a fully catered dinner.  Wine will be available by the glass for $5.  All the ladies AND GENTLEMEN of the parish are invited. This is going to be our major fundraising event for the Parish Operating Fund this year so come along, support your Church and have a great evening!
