Altar Guild
Under the direction of Dorothy Dutton and her 'right hand' Jonie Pascoe, St. John's 15-member Altar Guild is a group of ladies and one gentleman who take their duties very seriously. Working in teams of four, each team handles the duties one week each month, and one extra fifth Sunday.
The duties include setting up for Eucharist, and other services such as Baptisms and Memorials and the care of the Vessels, linens and vestments. Some sewing is done for new linens and other articles. The Sanctus Light is also taken care of which lasts about eight days and has to be renewed.
We pay $10 a year to Diocesan. We also have a budget which pays for candle oil, the wafers, Hosts and wine.
"I personally feel this is a commitment, but a joyous way in which to serve the Lord," Dorothy says.
Those interested in helping with the work of the Altar Guild can apply by contacting Dorothy via the Church office at 425-827-3077.
