“Live as children of light!” Ephesians 5:8
At St. John’s we believe that children are an essential part of parish life, as demonstrated by Jesus’ words to the disciples: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (Mark 10:14). We welcome every child into our church community by sharing with them the love and life of Jesus Christ. In partnership with parents/guardians, we offer opportunities for spiritual and interpersonal growth for all children. To help them discover their own unique gifts and talents, we’ve created a safe, nurturing and loving environment where children are welcome to laugh, sing, play and enjoy life within a Christian community. Through Bible study, worship, fellowship, and service, children learn their significance to the kingdom of God and how they can use this to carry out the vision of the church. For “each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10.
We also think it is important for parents to be active participants in their children's faith community. There are various volunteer opportunities from teaching Sunday school to helping organize special events and from baking snacks for Sunday school to helping out with vacation Bible camp. If you would like to share your unique talents and gifts, please contact me in the church office. I would love to find just the right place for you in our ministry.
