Director of Youth
Position Opening:
St. John's Episcopal Church in Kirkland, Washington seeks an energetic Director of Youth to create a Christian youth community within the parish for 7th to 12th graders.
Responsibilities include designing, implementing, coordinating and leading weekly
youth activities. Paid, part-time position, approximately 35 hours per
month.

Blue Angel Parents:
We will be singing on Sunday, May 4th as our last time this year.
All Parish Book Club:
Will be meeting on Friday May 9th at 7PM in the Church. The group will be discussing an excerpt of Herman Melville's book "Bartleby The Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street". This American author is best-known for his novels of the sea and his masterpiece, "Moby-Dick". You can find a copy of what is being read at the kiosk in the Narthex. If you are interested, pick up a copy and join the group. It should be an interesting conversation.
Bug Fair Alert:
On Sunday morning, April 27th, as part of our One-for-One Malaria Net Challenge, we will have a special program at St. John's. Brian Sellers-Petersen and Doroth Gibson from Episcopal Relief and Development (Diocese of Olympia) will speak at the 8AM and 10AM services. In the Great Hall, after the 10:00AM service, there will be a BUG FAIR, which will be full of fun, education and fellowship. We will have booths set up with children's activities, baked goods, and more! Courtnae Dunn, daughter of Joe and Diann Dunn and a Blue Angels' graduate, will present a slide show of her experiences in Africa.
Forward Day By Day:
The new quarterly booklet issued for May/June/July 2008 has just arrived. This issue features meditations by the deans of the accredited Episcopal seminaries in the United States, eleven authors in all. Each dean was invited to write a block of eight or nine meditations; all eleven deans have contributed to this issue. The books are on the counter in the Narthex. Cost is .80 cents per copy.
Annual Sunday School BBQ:
The 2007-2008 Sunday school year has been very successful. Our youth, children and volunteers have worked hard and had a lot of fun learning more about God's word, our faith and our Church. To celebrate this outstanding accomplishment, we are having our annual Sunday School BBQ on May 18th, immediately following the 10AM service. We need help with the barbeques, food, set-up and clean-up. A sign-up sheet is available in the Narthex. If you have any questions or would like to help, please see Cathy Christensen. Cosmic City(TM):
is the theme for the 2008 GKEP Vacation Bible Camp to be held at St. John's July 14-18, 2008. Space voyagers from preschool through sixth grade will love joining the crew of C.C. Tours on an intergalactic journey through Cosmic City as they explore the awesome wonder of God. During the daily Cosmic City Tours, kids will discover God's Wondrous Creation, God's Provision to the Israelites, Jesus' Healing of a Paralyzed Man, Jesus' Walking on Water, and Jesus' Crucifixtion and Resurrection. They will experience incredible Bible andventures, out-of-this-world games, memorable crafts, spacey snacks, wonder-filled science experiments, and amazing worship. In every corner of Cosmic City(TM), God's wonder dazzles the heart and mind. Cost is $20 per child, $50 maximum per family. Registration froms will be available beginning April 6th and the registration deadline is June 13th. Volunteers are welcome! This is a great opportunity for evangelism within our Kirkland community. All Parish Clean-up:
Mark your calendar! The All Parish Clean-up is coming May 3rd from 9AM to 11:30AM. Bring your work gloves, rake or broom, lawn bags and ladders, and we'll provide lunc. Sign-up sheet is in the Narthex or call the Church Office 425-827-3077.
The CROP Walk is Coming:
The CROP Walk, this year, is Sunday, May 4th. The walk starts and ends at St. John's, 105 State St. South Kirkland. Registration begins at 12:30PM and the walk kicks off at 1:00PM. Dog Sitter Needed:
Duke is a 7 year old yellow lab, social and well behaved, who needs a human to take care of him while his masters are out of town at various times this summer. Caretaking will involve living at his masters' home at night, and feeding and walking Duke daily. The human should be near college age or older, very responsible, and a dog lover.
